Nordic antioxidant bomb: That’s why you should use skincare with cloudberries

Nordic antioxidant bomb:

That's why you should use skincare with cloudberries

Say hello to the Nordic super ingredient packed with antioxidants – and that works wonders for the skin.

It’s no coincidence that the most powerful skincare ingredients are often found in the harshest growing conditions.

Cloudberries are native to our Nordic nature and are no exception. These tangy, golden berries grow wild in marshes and mountains, surviving Arctic temperatures as low as minus 40 °C. Even more impressive is their ability to produce twice as much vitamin C as an orange during the short Nordic summer – a trait that has earned them the nickname “gold of the forest.”

Studies show that 100 grams of cloudberries contain twice as much vitamin C as 100 grams of oranges.

What exactly are cloudberries?

The English word for moltebær is cloudberry, and that’s exactly what it looks like – a small yellow cloud. The scientific name is Rubus chamaemorus, and these golden berries grow mainly in the northern parts of Scandinavia. They ripen during the berry season between August and September each year – but they’re not always easy to find. Many berry pickers keep the growing locations secret to ensure sustainable harvesting, but also out of respect for the environment.

Cloudberries in your skincare routine – what are the benefits?

Cloudberries are extremely rich in antioxidants – nature’s very best defense against pollution and UV rays.

In addition to vitamin C, cloudberries also contain vitamin E, another powerful antioxidant that helps protect the skin from free radicals.

But the truly beneficial properties come from the oil and extract derived from cloudberries – with an extremely high content of omega fatty acids that help strengthen the skin barrier.

Omega fatty acids are the building blocks of all natural oils, and cloudberry oil contains both omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, which help the skin retain moisture.

Cloudberries have a protective effect on all skin types but are especially beneficial for dry and sensitive skin. Studies have also shown that cloudberry extract can help reduce the breakdown of elastin in the skin – and thus prevent sagging.

Cloudberries are also one of the very best sources of ellagic tannins, which have strong antioxidant properties – in addition to beta-carotene, which is converted into retinol by enzymes in the skin.

In other words, if you want more radiance, improved cell renewal, smoother skin, and fewer lines – cloudberries are an excellent skincare ingredient to look for.

Cloudberry extract is a key ingredient in our nourishing and moisturizing Nordic Restoring Body Treatment and the Vitamin C serum Arctic Glow C Serum.

Tap – don’t rub: This is how you get better results from your skincare routine

Tap – don’t rub:

This is how you get better results from your skincare routine

An effective skincare routine isn’t just about the products you use. How you apply them also matters a lot. It can even enhance their effect.

Have you ever thought about how you apply your skincare products? Most people would probably say no – after all, isn’t it just a matter of rubbing it in and being done?

Then maybe it’s time to reconsider. Because the way you apply your face cream or serum actually makes a difference – something Japanese women have understood for a long time.

What is skincare tapping?

Tapping is something we associate with payments, but it’s also an ancient Japanese technique where the fingertips or palms are used to gently press and pat skincare products into the skin – instead of rubbing, dragging, or smearing.

This has become increasingly common in other parts of the world as well – and for good reason.

Why is this technique good for the skin?

Okay, so it takes a little longer to tap moisturizer into the skin than to just quickly rub it on. So why should you take the time?

Because it’s much gentler on the skin. By tapping in the products, you reduce stretching and friction – and therefore also the risk of irritation, redness, sagging, and fine lines. Many of us rub in products without realizing that the skin, especially on the face, is more sensitive than we think. This is particularly important in areas prone to irritation from rubbing, such as around the eyes or cheeks.

Some also claim that this technique can improve the absorption of products into the skin by increasing blood circulation. In any case, it’s something worth trying – especially if you want to be a little kinder to your skin.

How do you do it?

Here’s how to use the tapping technique with the most common skincare products:

Serum
Facial serums are already concentrated and effective – they don’t need much extra force to work. Gently pat them into the skin with your fingertips for maximum effect and gentle application.

Moisturizer
Do you have dry skin? Then you’re probably willing to try anything that helps the cream absorb better. Now’s your chance. Instead of massaging the moisturizer into the skin (such as the Nordic Recovery Cream), tap it in with your fingertips. Think of it as a few extra minutes of self-care in your daily routine.

Eye cream
If you’re going to try tapping in just one area, make it the area around the eyes. The skin here is especially thin and delicate and doesn’t tolerate rubbing well. Apply the product (such as the Nordic Under Eye Treatment) with the tip of the applicator, then use your ring finger to gently pat it in under the eyes.

Neck cream
The same applies here as with face moisturizers, but try tapping in an upward direction to work against gravity and promote circulation around the jaw and chin. Try this technique when applying the Neck & Chest Refining Cream.

When should you not do it?

There are a few exceptions where you shouldn’t tap. Physical exfoliants and facial cleansers are best massaged into the skin with circular motions – it helps activate the product and remove impurities. But otherwise, feel free to tap away.

Worth trying

We’ve all definitely done it – swiped across the face with quick motions and a slightly too heavy hand, maybe even thinking that the harder, the better. But the truth is, your skin does best when you’re a bit gentler with your application.

So next time you’re going through your skincare routine – try this technique. Tap and pat in the products calmly and mindfully. Your skin will love it.

Why Mandelic Acid Works: The Odor-Fighting Super Ingredient

This is why mandelic acid works:

The super ingredient that fights odor

Imagine a deodorant that not only does its job – but also nourishes, glows and refines skin texture. Say hello to our superhero – mandelic acid.

Mandelic acid is a gentle yet effective skin care ingredient. It belongs to a group of acids called alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), and offers several benefits – both for the skin and in the fight against unpleasant body odor. It is this key ingredient that makes Vessi Whole Body Deodorant so effective.

In this blog post, you’ll learn more about what mandelic acid is, how it works, and why it’s so important in our new body deodorant.

What are AHA acids?

Alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) are water-soluble acids that often come from fruit, milk or sugar – but can also be made synthetically. They are widely used in skincare for their exfoliating properties.

AHA acids work by loosening dead skin cells on the surface of the skin, making them easier to shed, giving you a smoother, fresher skin texture.

Common types of AHA acids are:

  • Glycolic acid (from sugar cane)
  • Lactic acid (from milk)
  • Citric acid (from citrus)
  • Malic acid (from apples)
  • Tartaric acid (from grapes)
  • Mandelic acid (from bitter almonds)

In addition to exfoliating, AHAs help to even out skin tone, reduce fine lines, and provide a smoother skin surface. They can also help with acne, sun damage, and brown spots.

What is mandelic acid?

Mandelic acid is an antioxidant that is either extracted from bitter almonds or produced synthetically. Due to mechanical pressing and further processing, mandelic acid is not technically classified as “natural” – even though it is in practice plant-based and skin-friendly. This is more about definitions than reality. For us, the most important thing is that the ingredient is safe, effective and sustainable.

That’s why we use mandelic acid in our body deodorant – because it’s both effective and gentle on the skin. Even if you’re allergic to nuts.

How does mandelic acid work?

Mandelic acid chemically exfoliates the skin – that is, it dissolves the bonds between dead skin cells. This results in smoother and softer skin, while also stimulating collagen production – which in turn contributes to better skin elasticity.

But mandelic acid does so much more than just exfoliate.

It also has fantastic antibacterial, antifungal and anti-irritant properties – making it perfect as an ingredient in a deodorant.

Removing dead skin cells also improves the effectiveness of other ingredients, because the skin is more able to absorb them.

Therefore, mandelic acid is particularly suitable as an odor fighter.

To understand why mandelic acid works so well as a deodorant ingredient, we need to understand what actually causes body odor.

Odor occurs when bacteria on the skin break down bodily fluids like sweat, blood, or urine. This is not a phenomenon reserved for underarms – it can also occur in the groin, on the feet, and in skin folds. Any place where skin meets skin.

Odor-causing bacteria thrive in an alkaline environment – that is, when the skin’s pH rises. The body’s natural pH is around 4.7–5.75 (which means slightly acidic), while body fluids often have a higher pH:

  • Sweat: 5.7–7.3
  • Blood: 7.35–7.45
  • Urine: 4.6–8.0

When these liquids come into contact with the skin, they can make the environment more alkaline – thus creating ideal conditions for odor-causing bacteria.

Mandelic acid helps by lowering the skin’s pH, making it harder for odor-causing bacteria to thrive. The result? Less odor, and a fresher feeling – without clogging pores like antiperspirants do.

Mandelic acid vs. other acids

Mandelic acid has larger molecules than other AHAs, such as glycolic acid. This means it penetrates the skin more slowly and more superficially – making it gentler and less likely to cause irritation, redness or flaking. This is perfect for sensitive areas of the skin.

More benefits for the skin

Vessi uses mandelic acid primarily to control odor, but it also provides great benefits that go beyond what we expect from a deodorant:

  • Even skin tone
  • Less pigmentation and discoloration
  • Improved skin texture
  • Less acne and ingrown hairs
  • Less visible scars and dark areas after shaving

This makes Vessi Whole Body Deodorant function as a skin care product in itself.

Small change – big difference

Many people find that their underarm skin becomes softer, smoother and less irritated after switching to Vessi. Here is some feedback we have received since the launch:

«It actually manages to keep the smell away»

«Since I started using Vessi, the skin under my arms has become smoother, and the rash I was struggling with is gone. Plus, I don’t smell anything anymore. Wonderful!»

«I feel like my skin is actually breathing»

A new perspective on body odor and skincare

We at Vessi want you to have some new experiences. It’s not about covering up odor, or preventing your body from producing sweat. It’s about balancing and supporting your skin’s natural functions. Mandelic acid is our key ingredient in Whole Body Deodorant , and we’re proud of that.

Have you tried the body deodorant yet?

5 steps: How to get your skin summer-ready

5 steps: How to get your skin summer-ready

As spring turns to summer and the days get warmer, changes also happen to the skin. More sun, more sweat, and drier air can affect both moisture balance and skin texture – and mature skin especially needs a bit of extra care during this transition.

By making a few simple adjustments to your skincare routine, you can protect and strengthen the skin so that it looks and feels healthy, balanced, and radiant all summer long. Here are some tips on how to get your skin summer-ready with Vessi products – tailored for mature skin.

Step 1: Gentle and effective cleansing

A good cleanser lays the foundation for all skincare – and mature skin needs both gentle yet effective cleansing morning and night.

Vessi Makeup Removal Balm is designed to remove makeup, dirt, and sweat without stripping the skin of its natural oils. With ingredients like oat oil and sea buckthorn berry, it melts into the skin, cleanses pores, and leaves the skin soft and hydrated.

Use morning and evening. Massage the product in with lukewarm water and rinse thoroughly. The skin will feel clean and ready for the next step – without feeling tight or dry.

Step 2: Exfoliate to reveal the glow

As we age, skin cells take longer to renew, which can make the skin uneven and a bit dull. That’s why gentle exfoliation is especially important to bring out the glow.

Vessi Exfoliating Face Scrub removes dead skin cells with natural scrub particles from bamboo extract that don’t irritate the skin. This treatment stimulates cell renewal, gives the skin a fresh appearance, and prepares it to absorb nourishing ingredients from serums and creams.

Use 1–2 times a week, and always follow up with moisturizer to strengthen the skin barrier. You’ll quickly notice your skin feels softer and looks clearer.

Step 3: Hydration and nourishment

When the weather gets warmer, it’s easy to think the skin doesn’t need as much moisture – but that’s not true. Mature skin loses moisture faster and needs care all year round.

Nordic Recovery Cream is a rich and nourishing face cream that still feels light on the skin, providing long-lasting nourishment without clogging pores. With oil from sea buckthorn and lingonberry seeds, along with niacinamide, it helps protect and strengthen the skin barrier, giving softness and glow.

Apply in a thin layer so the skin can absorb the moisture evenly. Perfect as a base after serum, sunscreen, or before makeup.

Step 4: Vitamin C – powerful antioxidant protection

Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant and one of the most recommended ingredients for mature skin – especially in spring and summer when it is more exposed to UV radiation and free radicals.

Arctic Glow C Serum protects the skin from external aggressors, increases skin elasticity, and supports collagen production – resulting in firmer skin and a more even skin tone. At the same time, the serum provides a natural glow that makes the skin look healthy and fresh.

Use in the morning and optionally in the evening after cleansing and before moisturizer. By strengthening the skin with antioxidants, you get an extra layer of protection before going out in the sun.

Step 5: Refresh with a gel mask

After warm days, the skin may need extra relief and moisture – and a cooling gel mask with blueberry extract is just perfect.

Nordic Aqua Gel Mask is a face mask packed with moisture – and works instantly. It is hydrating, cooling, and soothing for the skin. Blueberry extract is rich in antioxidants and helps protect against free radicals, while strengthening the skin barrier and providing a more even skin tone.

The mask can be used a couple of times a week – preferably after cleansing and before moisturizer. Apply a generous layer to the face and leave it on for 10–15 minutes before rinsing off or gently patting the remaining product into the skin. If the skin is especially dry, you can also use the mask as an intensive overnight treatment.

3 quick tips for glowing summer skin

• Drink enough water: Hydration from within is just as important as hydration from outside. Aim for 1.5–2 liters of water per day.

• Use physical sun protection: In addition to skincare, wear hats, sunglasses, and clothing with UV protection to shield your skin from the sun.

• Eat colorful foods: Foods rich in antioxidants – like berries, green vegetables, and tomatoes – help strengthen the skin against damage and signs of aging.

Getting your skin summer-ready isn’t complicated. With our skincare favorites, you can be confident your skin gets the care and protection it needs – while enhancing its natural radiance.

Lingonberries in skincare: 6 benefits that strengthen the skin

Lingonberries in skincare:

6 benefits that strengthen the skin

Did you know that lingonberries contain large amounts of plant compounds that can improve both skin and health? These small, red berries are not only part of a traditional Nordic diet but also a powerful skincare ingredient.

1. Powerful antioxidants for the skin

Lingonberries are a small nutritional powerhouse for your skin. They are full of antioxidants, including vitamins C, E, and polyphenols. Polyphenols are simply natural plant compounds that act as antioxidants — nature’s own defense.

Two types stand out in particular: quercetin and proanthocyanidins. These act like a shield against free radicals, which are harmful molecules that weaken skin cells and accelerate aging. In this way, the natural antioxidants help keep the skin firm and radiant.

2. Natural protection and repair

Sun, pollution, and stress wear down the skin over time. Every day it is exposed to external environmental factors and UV radiation that break down skin cells and can cause early signs of aging. This is where quercetin comes in again as the superhero, helping to balance the skin and assist in repairing the cells – despite everything it is exposed to.

3. Soothes sensitive skin

Lingonberries are also rich in plant compounds that help calm the skin by reducing redness and irritation. That’s why oils and extracts from lingonberries are especially well-suited as skincare ingredients for those with sensitive skin or skin issues like acne and rosacea. Their gentle yet effective properties not only make the skin less red and reactive – they can also help improve skin texture and reduce the visibility of pores.

4. Strengthens the skin barrier and provides moisture

Studies have shown that intake of lingonberry seed oil can improve the skin’s moisture level, elasticity, and fullness. In a study where participants took 2 g of lingonberry seed oil daily for three months, noticeable improvements in skin hydration and elasticity were observed.

Lingonberry seed oil also has a high content of alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) – an essential fatty acid in the omega-3 family. ALA helps strengthen the skin’s barrier function, which aids the skin in retaining moisture and protects against external factors. A strong skin barrier is important for preventing dryness, irritation, lines, and wrinkles.

5. Evens out skin tone and reduces pigmentation spots

Uneven skin tone, sun damage, and dark spots are common as we age – and these can be difficult to treat without strong ingredients like acids. That’s why it’s quite amazing that lingonberries also offer a mild and effective solution: ellagic acid.

This natural antioxidant is found in lingonberries and has been shown to help inhibit melanin production – the pigment that gives skin its color. When melanin production becomes overactive, dark spots and uneven skin tone can begin to appear. Ellagic acid works by naturally brightening the skin, which can contribute to a more even, clearer complexion over time.

In addition to evening out skin tone, ellagic acid protects the skin from damage caused by UV rays and pollution, making it a dual-action ingredient that is both corrective and preventive.

6. Contributes to firmer skin

As we age, changes occur beneath the surface of the skin. Collagen, the protein that keeps skin firm, smooth, and plump, breaks down at an increasingly rapid rate. The result? More lines and sagging skin.

Lingonberries naturally contain high levels of vitamin C, which is essential for the body to produce new collagen. By supplying the skin with vitamin C through skincare, this process is supported, which can help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and give the skin more fullness and firmness.

Lingonberries in your skincare routine – ready to try?

In short, lingonberries are a versatile and powerful ingredient in skincare, with documented benefits. They protect the skin against free radicals, have a calming effect, and provide moisture, which contributes to more balanced skin with radiance and firmness.

Whether you want to combat signs of aging, improve skin hydration, or even out skin tone, lingonberries can be an effective skincare ingredient. Look for products containing lingonberry extract or lingonberry seed oil to enjoy all the benefits.

3 types of moisture: What does your skin need?

3 types of moisture:
What does your skin need??

Our skin is not just a surface to be rubbed and cared for – it is actually the body’s largest organ and has a very complex need for moisture. To stay healthy, strong, and youthful, it needs more than just one type of moisturizer.

With these 3 moisturizing ingredients, you get skin that looks and feels radiantly healthy.

Type 1: Humectants – the natural moisture magnet

Humectants act like tiny magnets that attract moisture from the air and bind it to the skin, down to the deeper layers. This helps keep the skin plump, smooth, and less prone to fine lines.

Examples: hyaluronic acid and glycerin.

Found in: Serums

Skin condition: Tight, dehydrated skin, visible lines

Type 2: Emollients for silky soft moisture

When the skin feels rough, cracked, or irritated, it’s often because the fats between the skin cells are missing. Emollients fill in the “cracks” in the skin barrier and provide a silky soft feel. These moisturizing agents work on the top layer of the skin, creating a smooth surface.

Examples: Squalane, ceramides, and triglycerides

Found in: Creams, lotions

Skin condition: Dry, flaky, rough skin

Type 3: Occlusive moisture protects and locks in

Occlusive moisturizers form a protective film over the skin. This “lock” ensures that the moisture you’ve applied doesn’t evaporate but stays in the skin. Occlusive moisturizers usually have a slightly heavier texture and are especially suitable if you have very dry or damaged skin. They provide an immediate glow to the skin.

Examples: Oils, shea butter

Found in: Oils and creams

Skin condition: Dry and dull skin

Finnes i: Kremer, lotion

Remember:

Balanced skin needs a small cocktail of moisturizing ingredients. Clinical studies show that humectants, emollients, and occlusives can all significantly improve skin hydration and elasticity!

Why You Should Use a Serum

Have you heard of serums but aren’t sure how to use them? Serum is a great step to introduce into your skin care routine. Find out why and how!

First of all, what exactly is serum?

This is not a miracle product, but it is close. Serums are intended for the face and neck and should be used in addition to other steps in the skin care routine.

Serums are developed for specific purposes, with key ingredients that target typical skin problems or desired effects. Serums have a high concentration of active ingredients, aiming to penetrate deep into the skin. This makes this type of product unique.

There are many serums to choose from! When choosing a serum, think about what suits your age, your skin type and your needs. Remember that your skin changes-you may need a different type of serum in summer than in winter.

Why should you use it?

  • Because the serums contain highly concentrated ingredients, you can easily provide your skin with what it needs.
  • This results in a more targeted treatment of the skin.
  • You can choose the serum that best suits your skin and your needs.
  • Serum ingredients help make the skin care routine more complete, adding what the cream cannot do.

How is the product used?

  • As part of a simple three-step skin care routine, the serum should be applied after cleansing the face.
  • Serums are often thin in consistency, so they can be easily absorbed by the skin. Use 2-3 drops-be sure to distribute the product evenly.
  • Finish with a moisturizer suitable for your skin to lock in the good ingredients of the serum.
  • Alternatively, the serum can be used after a toner and eye cream.
  • You can use the serum either in the morning or in the evening. The serum should not be rinsed off, but left on the skin throughout the day or night.
  • A general tip for serum use is to try it gradually to see how much the skin can tolerate. If you introduce the skin to a high concentration of new ingredients, the skin may react and become irritated. Always read the product information.
  • Also remember to use sunscreen. This is especially important if you use serums with acids or other active ingredients.

Guide: Ingredients that make a difference

Acids, vitamins, or proteins? You have probably seen many products that contain these ingredients, and it can be difficult to understand what they are. Here is a simple overview of the key ingredients common in serums and what they can do for your skin.

Hyaluronic acid

The key to hydration. It is found naturally in the body, but its production decreases with age. That’s why it’s good to add it with the help of a serum. This ingredient binds moisture to the skin, making it smoother, firmer and softer.

Vitamin C

It is an antioxidant that is intended to prevent or reduce environmental damage to the skin and thus contribute to a more even skin tone. The ingredient is known to counteract signs of aging by increasing collagen production.

Retinol (Vitamin A)

This ingredient has an anti-aging effect. By increasing cell renewal, it can produce effects such as less visible lines and wrinkles or strengthen the elasticity of the skin to make it look younger.

Niacinamide (Vitamin B3)

It helps even skin tone, reduce redness, improve skin texture and reduce the appearance of enlarged pores by controlling excess sebum.

Alpha-Hydroxy and Beta-Hydroxy Acids

These acids have an exfoliating effect that can even out the surface of the skin and reduce the appearance of impurities.

Squalane

It is also a source of hydration. It is a plant-derived lipid that not only protects the skin barrier but also makes the skin softer and smoother.

Panthenol

Soothes damaged and/or irritated skin, retains moisture and strengthens the skin barrier.

Peptides

These are the building blocks of protein. Some effects may be: skin appears smoother and more even, reduction of wrinkles, or brightening of darker areas. The exact effect depends on the type of peptides used.

How to choose the right serum?

When choosing skin care products, it is important to know your skin type. This also applies to serums. To get the best effect from the ingredients, you need to know what your skin needs. Is your skin oily, combination, dry or normal? It all depends on the amount of oil your skin produces.

Not sure about your skin type? Here are some signs you can look out for: After washing your face with a mild cleanser and without applying any products, wait 30 minutes.

  • If your skin becomes shiny, you most likely have oily skin.
  • If it becomes shiny in some areas but duller in others, you probably have combination skin.
  • If the skin is tight and has areas of flaking, it is probably dry skin.
  • If the skin is comfortable and not too oily, this is probably normal.
  • Sensitive skin may feel the same as other skin types, but you may recognize symptoms such as redness, itching or burning when applying products.

Vessi Nordic Friming Serum

Suitable for all skin types. It is the serum for those who want to give their skin radiance and new life. With key ingredients such as hyaluronic acid and natural minerals from red algae extract and birch sap, the serum is designed to moisturize, nourish and anti-oxidize the skin.

Tusindvis af kvinder elsker denne nordiske kropscreme – her er hvorfor

1. Tilpasset til kvinder over 35 år

4. Hurtige resultater

78 % sagde, at cremen gjorde deres hud glattere*

6. Bæredygtig produktion i Norden

What happens to the skin after the age of 40?

The skin is extraordinary. It is the largest organ in the body and accompanies us throughout our lives, protecting us from cold, heat, injury and infection. But like the rest of the body, the skin changes with age. The speed at which this happens is determined by genes, but lifestyle and environmental influences also have a strong impact.

When you are young you get a lot for free because your skin is able to largely produce what it needs, but after the age of 40 changes begin to occur. By knowing the main changes that skin undergoes from the age of 40, you will also know what needs are important to consider when choosing skin care.

There are 5 main things that happen to the skin after age 40

Skin produces less oil
Skin becomes thinner
Cell renewal slows down
Skin loses elasticity
Pigment change

Skin produces less oil

The skin needs lipids to retain moisture, but over time sebum production decreases and the skin becomes drier. This can make the skin feel tight and uncomfortable and contributes to the development of fine lines and wrinkles.

Genetically, those who start with dry skin are more susceptible, while those with oily skin will develop lines and wrinkles later. The right moisturizer for your skin type is more important than ever, and you should look for products that contain good fatty acids, oils, and hyaluronic acid. Also, remember to drink enough water throughout the day to replenish your skin with moisture from within.

Skin becomes thinner

Around the age of 20, the skin begins to produce less collagen, the protein that provides skin firmness. This causes the skin to gradually become thinner, and when hormonal changes begin, it becomes even thinner.

As a result, the skin becomes more prone to damage and wrinkles. The skin around the eyes is often the area where this phenomenon first occurs, because the skin is very thin. Blood vessels in the skin also become more visible due to thinning of the skin, especially around the nose and on the cheeks. It is increasingly important to protect yourself from the sun and environmental factors that destroy collagen: buy skin products that contain vitamins and antioxidants.

Cell renewal slows down

As we age, blood circulation deteriorates and the skin takes longer to renew itself. This means that the skin takes longer to shed old, damaged cells and replace them with new, healthy cells. After the age of 40, the rate of cell renewal slows by about 50 percent, leaving the skin drier, duller and more prone to impurities.

Exfoliation is one of the most important ways to stimulate cell renewal, such as using a facial scrub or peel. It helps the skin remove the top layer of dead cells to make room for new cells. Also, be sure to choose skin care products that support and stimulate cell renewal and that contain vitamin C, vitamin A, and minerals.

Skin loses elasticity

In our skin there is a protein called elastin, which makes the skin firm and elastic. When the skin is stretched and there is a lack of elastin, the skin does not come back as easily. This phenomenon becomes more noticeable as we age and elastin production decreases, just like collagen.

This leads to an increase in wrinkles, and pores tend to become more visible. The sun degrades both collagen and elastin and can be prevented by protecting the skin, primarily by using sunscreen every day, even on cloudy days. The sun’s UV rays are the main external factor affecting skin aging, even on a gray, rainy day. Vitamins and antioxidants also help protect against elastin breakdown, so remember to choose good skin care products that contain both.

Pigment change

As we age, dark spots may begin to appear on the skin. These spots form mainly in sun-exposed areas and are caused by a buildup of the pigment that gives skin color, melanin. Melanin production decreases around the age of 30, and after 40 it becomes more noticeable. This is the time when old sun damage to which the skin has been exposed but which was not visible before is revealed.
The skin remembers all the hours it was exposed to the sun without a sufficiently high factor. This is something to think about. The skin is also more prone to new skin damage because it does not repair itself fast enough. Therefore, the best advice against pigmentation is to protect yourself from the sun by using skin care products with SPF: you cannot repeat it enough. The sun is wonderful, but dangerous. Let’s not forget the antioxidants that effectively protect against sun damage, such as vitamins C and E. There are also ingredients that have the ability to improve the skin’s surface and diminish light pigmentation, such as niacinamide.

Remember, all these changes are natural...

… and back after years of smiling, laughing and living life.

Giving your skin a little extra attention, using the right skin care products that add vitamins, antioxidants and hydration, will keep it healthy and fresh for a long time. Move as much as possible in your daily life to increase your heart rate. Good blood circulation increases the supply of nutrients to the skin and accelerates cell renewal. If you then also ensure a balanced and varied diet, you have done a lot.

What you invest in your skin will show. And healthy skin will always look better
