Body Lotion or Body Cream is something most people are familiar with. But do you happen to notice that the cream is not providing the desired hydration? Don’t worry, there are simple tricks to maximize the effect of your body lotion! You can take a few simple steps to prepare your skin to receive the moisturizing ingredients of your body lotion.
1. Make exfoliation part of your shower routine
Exfoliation means removing dead skin cells. Cell renewal is a natural process of the skin, but exfoliation helps by stimulating skin cells. The benefits of exfoliation are many, including stimulating a more radiant glow and making the skin more receptive to product ingredients. There are several ways to exfoliate the skin. Brushes and sponges are great both for dry brushing before showering and for massaging shower gel into the skin. You can also use skin exfoliating products. Choose scrubs or cleansers with a fine-grained texture, as larger granules can cause small cuts on the skin.
2. Apply the cream to moist skin
Is body lotion a step in your routine that you often skip because it takes you too long in the bathroom? Then it may be helpful to remember that you don’t have to wait until your skin is completely dry. Do not rub your skin with a towel, but gently pat it dry to remove the water. Skin absorbs creams better when it is slightly damp, so don’t wait more than 5 minutes after showering before applying cream.
3. Maintain cleanliness
After showering, we want to apply clean products to the skin. If you use a cream from a jar, you should pick up the product with a clean instrument. This way, you avoid transferring bacteria from your fingers to the jar, creating favorable conditions for their growth and ruining the product. Instead, you can use a completely clean spoon or skin care tools designed for this purpose.
4. Be generous with the quantity
Don’t be frugal with the cream! Use enough to spread it evenly over the entire body. You may even find that application is faster with a larger amount, as the cream glides better over the skin. Especially be sure to apply enough product to areas that become especially dry, such as elbows and knees.
5. Apply the cream in the same direction as the hair growth.
Just as you should shave in the direction of hair growth, it is gentler to apply the cream ‘with’ the hairs. We recommend this trick to avoid pulling the hairs and thus irritating the hair follicles.
6. Let the cream penetrate well into the skin
Before getting dressed, you should let the cream penetrate the skin. In this way, you prevent the cream from sticking to your clothes, since the fabric attracts the product. We want the cream to have maximum effect on the skin, and that happens if it is given time to act. In the meantime, you can do other things to save time – brush your teeth, take care of your hair, or polish your nails!
These tips are designed to maximize the effect without taking too much time and effort. Try them the next time you need to apply moisturizer to your body! And enjoy soft, moisturized skin.
